Double Distance places the viewer in the landscape, inviting her/him to explore the terrain as a perceptive act. Reflecting on the immigrant’s point of view in which place, memory and expectation are closely knit together, it intends to question concepts of identity and belonging. Once here and longing to be there, the distance traveled (whether mentally or physically) will always double itself in the process of wanting to transform a place into a home, or in the process of going home to find a different place than what was left behind.
